Powercore Keypad User Manual

Discover the CAN bus Keypad N.1 in Blink World.

When a button is pressed the circuit for that button will turn on. The indicators on all keypads for that circuit will light up to show circuit is on. Any keypad can turn a circuit on or off.

If a circuit draws more than the rated current, the circuit will be turned off and the indicator LED will flash to indicate circuit was tripped. To reset the circuit, press and hold the button down for about 5-6 seconds.

Keypad Backlight and Indicator LED Dimming:
When the Navigation Lights and/or the Anchor Lights are on, the Indicator
LED’s will dim by approximately 50% and the backlight LED’s will come on.

Momentary:
The circuit is ON only while the button is held down.

Toggle ON/OFF:

The first press of the button turns the circuit On and the LED as well. The next press turns circuit Off and the LED as well.

Toggle/Countdown/Auto Sense (Bilge):

The first press of the button turns the circuit on, L1 is On, and a countdown begins. The next press turns circuit off and L1 is Off or, when the countdown expires, the circuit will automatically turn Off. When the circuit is Off, the circuit will sense when the circuit is being turned on by the float switch and L3 is On. The float switch is wired directly to the battery via a fused wire.

Toggle/Countdown:

The first press of the button turns the circuit on, L2 is on, and a countdown begins. The next press turns circuit off and L1 is off or, after when the countdown expire, the circuit will automatically turn off.

Toggle/Power Sense (Fridge) :

The first press of the button turns the circuit On and L1 is On. The second press turns the circuit Off. If the circuit is On but there is no load on the Pin, L3 will not illuminate. When the compressor turns On, L3 will light.

Nav/Anc, Scroll:

The first press of the button turns On the Navigation circuit and L1. The second press of the button turns Off the Navigation circuit and L1 and turn the Anchor circuit and L2 On. The third press turns off both circuits and LEDs.

Dimmer:

Pressing and holding the button down will turn On the pin with a high voltage signal (PWM output). Holding the button down will continue to decrease voltage on pin until zero power is reached. Pressing button a second time will turn pin Off.

Installation:

The keypad and PME unit(s) should be inspected for physical damage before installation. Any cracked, broken or bent items on either unit should be reported to your shipping firm or to DNA for proper disposition.

Ensure all power is off by disconnecting the marine battery(s) from the boat system or de-energizing the battery switch.

Prepare the unit for installation by removing all packaging materials. Keypads must be mounted to a flat surface using a properly positioned cut out for the keypad connector pigtail. The keypad-mounting studs should be secured through the panel using 10-32 UNF nut and lock-washer. Tighten the nuts to snug only. Do not exceed torque ratings as this will crack or deform the keypad, which will cause intermittent operation.

Connect the keypad pigtail Deutsch connector to the wire harness. Wire harnesses are not provided by DSS. They must be designed, manufactured and installed to meet the DSS Pi series requirements as well as the specific design requirements of the application, for length, termination, wire size, etc. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure this was done to meet or exceed design specifications.

To mount the PME, the unit must be installed in a non-submerged, ventilated space as to meet the operational specifications listed in the product documentation. Units that are not “IP” protected must not be mounted in an engine compartment. The ambient temperature must not exceed 70 Degrees C.

Secure the PME with four, ¼ - 20 bolts, nuts and washers or equivalent wood screws (not provided). Tighten to snug only.

Secure the negative power side terminal to the negative power lug and secure with the nut and washer provided. Secure the positive power side terminal to the positive power lug and secure with the nut and washer provided. Take care to never reverse the terminal connections or reverse the order of connection. Tighten power lugs to snug only. Over-tightening will cause the lug to crack or fail.

Never connect the Molex 16 and 4 pin connectors to the PME without connecting the power terminals first.

Important: to un-install the PME from the system, the steps to be taken should be the reverse of the installation sequence. Never disconnect the power terminals while the Molex connector blocks are still attached. Failure to disconnect the Molex connector blocks first may cause the PME to receive reverse current causing failure of the unit and voiding any warranties.

The system is now ready for power and operation. Re-connect the main marine battery(s) to the circuit and follow the operational instructions.
